The Kings Country Band out of South Africa,who for more than 10 years played at the top dance halls Hotels in Johannesburg and Hillbrow, to name a few, The Chelsea Hotel, Europa Hotel, Lido Hotel, The Newmarket Hotel The Skyline Hotel, Club Underground, The Waverley Hotel, Weddings, festivals, parties many more. The song Sunrise was recorded in the late 70’s and made it onto the Official South African Top 30 Springbok Radio Chart Show with little or no advertising in those days, while signed to EMI South Africa.They made various TV and radio appearances but eventually disbanded in the mid 80’s. Kings Country Band consisted of various members but for the most part Johnny on Lead Vocals, Herman on Lead guitar and harmony vocals, Frans on Keyboards, Barker on Bass and Stephen On  drums. Tom, Norman and Ludick also had a short run on Bass and Drums. Kings Country Band repertoire included bands like the Moody Blues, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Afrikaans popular songs, not called sokkie in those days, plus cover versions of latest Top 40 pop, country and local tunes of the day. Sunrise was one of many songs the band wrote during their time. Although they would have been classed as a Country Rock group today, they were in those days a Pop Group, and a really good dance band with one hit song on the radio, Sunrise now a number one on AirplayExpress.
